sydney harbor & botanical gardens

Sydney harbor and a view to the business district and the bridge with the opera house.
it looks cloudy and stormy but was actually super sunny and beautiful. what a relief from european winter...

the botanical gardens...

... took this pic for jan ... one of many weird animals i'm seeing here ... there's a bird that sounds like the baby in Eraserhead as well ... wasn't able to take a pic yet though ...

i thought i had stumbled on a scene from the Birds until Amber told me these are bats and there were as many as these in every tree i saw in a 360 degree radius! from where i was standing their bodies looked as a big as a standard european house cat. made me wonder how wide their wingspan is... apparantly they all fly together to another park every day around dusk... will try to get a pic of that ...

the necks in concert.... jet lag was making it very hard for me to stay awake ... but it was a nice concert anyhow ...

the swedes are everywhere

... took this pic for jefta ...
this shop is right next door to Sydney's first Pain Cotidien, but i didn't take a picture of that as it felt too weird to have such a typical Brussels thing in a place so far away from Brussels... was tempted to go in and buy one of my favorite lemon tartlets but didn't ... amber showed me a local bakery instead where we had a pork and fennel roll that was simply delicious

abu dhabi airport

... at the airport in abu dhabi, after 9 hours of flying and before flying another 14...

i hadn't slept at all and was feeling the first signs of a heavy jet lag setting in...
